Kinetic Relief (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the online store at kineticreliefshop.com (the “Store”). We are based in South Australia. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and disclose personal information when you visit the Store, create an account, place an order, contact us, or otherwise deal with us.

We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and with other laws that apply to visitors from other countries. The Store is powered by Shopify.

If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Store.

2. What we collect

Depending on how you use the Store, we may collect:

  • Identity and contact details — name, email address, phone number, billing address, shipping address.

  • Order and payment details — products purchased, order history, returns, payment method and confirmation. We do not store full card numbers on our own systems; card payments are processed by Shopify and its payment partners.

  • Account details — if you create an account: login, password (stored by Shopify in hashed form), preferences and saved addresses.

  • Communications — emails, messages and any information you send when you ask about an order, a size, a return or a product.

  • Device and usage data — IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages viewed, referring site, and how you move through the Store. This is collected through cookies and similar tools.

  • Reviews and user content — if you leave a product review.

We do not need sensitive information (health diagnoses, medical history) to sell our socks. Please do not send us detailed medical records. If you mention a foot condition in a support email so we can help with sizing or comfort, we will only use that information to reply to you.

3. How we collect it

We collect personal information:

  • directly from you when you check out, create an account, join a mailing list, or email us;

  • automatically when you browse the Store (cookies, pixels and Shopify analytics);

  • from service providers who process orders, payments, shipping and fraud checks on our behalf;

  • from Shopify and marketing/advertising partners, where you have interacted with our ads or the Store.

If you give us information about someone else (for example a gift recipient), you must have their permission to do so.

We will not sell your personal information.

5. Shopify and other service providers

The Store is hosted by Shopify. Information you submit is transmitted to Shopify and may be processed in Australia, Canada, the United States and other countries where Shopify or its subprocessors operate.

We also use third parties to help us run the business, which may include:

  • payment processors and Shopify Payments;

  • shipping carriers and fulfilment partners (for example Australia Post or other couriers shown at checkout);

  • email delivery and customer-support tools;

  • analytics, advertising and review platforms;

  • cloud storage and IT security providers.

6. Cookies, analytics and ads

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • keep items in your cart;

  • remember preferences;

  • understand how the Store is used;

  • measure marketing and, where permitted, show relevant ads.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may stop checkout or login from working properly.

If we use advertising tools that build a profile of your browsing across sites, you can usually opt out through the ad platform’s own settings or industry opt-out pages. We will honour required opt-out rights where the law gives them to you.

7. Who we disclose information to

We may disclose personal information:

  • to Shopify and the service providers listed above;

  • to shipping carriers so they can deliver your order;

  • to professional advisers (accountants, lawyers) under confidentiality;

  • with your consent, or at your direction (for example if you ask us to send a parcel to a third party).

We do not disclose your information to unrelated third parties for their own marketing.

8. Overseas disclosure

Because we use Shopify and online tools, your information may be stored or processed outside Australia, including in Canada, the United States, the European Union and other countries. Those countries may not have privacy laws that are identical to Australia’s. We take reasonable steps, including Shopify’s contractual protections, so that overseas recipients handle the information consistently with this policy and the APPs.

9. Direct marketing

If you subscribe, or if you are an existing customer and the law allows it, we may email you about our products, restocks and offers. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email kineticreliefshop@gmail.com and ask to be removed.

We will still send non-marketing messages that we need to send, such as order confirmations, shipping updates and replies to your questions.

10. Children

The Store is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it where required.

11. Security

We and Shopify use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information. No website or transmission is completely secure. Please use a strong unique password if you create an account, and do not send card numbers to us by email.

12. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as we need it to fulfil the purpose it was collected for, including:

  • completing your order and any return;

  • our 30-day guarantee and Australian Consumer Law claims;

  • tax, accounting and legal record-keeping (often 5–7 years in Australia);

  • resolving disputes.

When we no longer need the information, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it, unless the law requires us to keep it.

13. Your rights (Australia)

You may request to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;

  • correct information that is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete;

  • ask us how we handle your information.

We will respond within a reasonable time. We may need to verify your identity. In limited cases we can refuse a request (for example if the law requires us to keep the record). We will tell you why if we refuse.

14. Rights if you live outside Australia

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The new version will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Store after a change means you accept the updated policy, except where the law requires us to ask for consent.
